Cycling in Milton Keynes

A cycling destination with a difference! Where else in Britain can you take a single cycle ride and meet cows made of concrete, visit a cathedral made of trees, and slide down a slope made of snow – all without cycling on a single road?

You can do it all and more in Milton Keynes.

Enjoying cycling across Milton Keynes

The young and energetic city of Milton Keynes is a cyclist’s paradise waiting to be discovered. With rides to suit both leisure and more serious cyclists, you can mountain bike on challenging trails or take the family to explore the beautiful lakes
and parkland.

Two National Cycle Network routes pass through the city connecting you to other parts of the region. There are 273km of Redways, a network of maintained paths that criss-cross the city and allow you to ride safely to the city centre or the outlying villages; they are particularly safe for children or novice cyclists.

Milton Keynes has 4,500 acres of parkland, woodland, lakes and rivers to explore. We have four Heritage Cycle Trails so you can delve into the rich history of Milton Keynes. You can cycle the towpath of the Grand Union Canal or the banks of the River Ouse. We’re close to Bow Brickhill and Aspley Woods renowned for their challenging cross country mountain bike trails and the play area for those who prefer downhill riding or jumps. You can even try your hand at BMX riding on our free race track at Pineham. We also have seven excellent cycle shops in and around the city for a spot of retail therapy while you’re here.

The Milton Keynes Cycling Association also offers cycle racing and training on the “closed road” circuit at Milton Keynes Bowl CLICK HERE for more information.
