Land of Lights launches special Book Bank weekend

A Milton Keynes attraction has organised a special weekend to collect much-needed book donations to help the local community.

Over the weekend of 20 and 21 January 2024, Land of Lights, a mile long festival of illuminations being held at Gulliver’s resort for the second year, will offer visitors tickets at a discounted rate of £12 each in exchange for a book which will then be donated to community organisations and charities across the city.

This year, Land of Lights, which runs until 25 February 2024, has brought the theme of classic children’s literature to life with a wide variety of installations on display from popular and much-loved characters and scenes including The Three Little Pigs, Dr Doolittle, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Wizard of Oz, The Little Mermaid and Peter Pan to name just a few.

Darren Hoy, Land of Lights festival manager, explains: “We have been overwhelmed with the success of Land of Lights so far and it’s been great to see so many people from across Milton Keynes come and enjoy the festival.

“We always knew we wanted to find a way to give something back to the local community and as the event’s theme this year is children’s literature, we thought hosting a special weekend where people can come and see the wonderful spectacle of light and lanterns in return for the donation of a book which we can then donate to a range of local charities and organisations would be a great idea. We hope as many people as possible will come and join us for a weekend of fun.”

Thousands of people from across the country have already explored the festival’s enchanting installations which includes more than 7,000 individual lanterns and hundreds of thousands LED lights. To book or to find out more about Land of Lights please visit: landoflights.co.uk
