centre:mk, one of the UK’s top ten shopping destinations, is the place to be this Christmas. The centre’s much-loved Santa’s Grotto will return on Friday 18 November, but this time with a newly designed experience, the first of its kind in the UK. In partnership with Penguin Books, this year’s immersive Santa’s Grotto will bring an adventure with The Snowman™ to life, offering families a magical journey to the North Pole.

This unique grotto, one of the largest in the UK, is located in Middleton Hall, a dedicated event space at the heart of centre:mk. The nostalgic adventure begins with a heart-warming live interpretation of The Snowman™, brought to life by actors portraying the well-loved characters from the original story.

A snowy landscape will provide the perfect backdrop to view some of the most memorable moments from the original animated film. Each family will spend 25-30 minutes enjoying the experience and all children will be given the opportunity to decorate a special Christmas Snowman biscuit before meeting Santa himself in his woodland cabin. Each child can take home a precious family photograph with Santa, as well as a lovely quality gift at the end of their journey in the grotto.

Kim Priest, head of marketing at centre:mk, said: “We are delighted to be launching Santa’s Grotto with The Snowman™ at centre:mk this winter. The Snowman™ is a Christmas family favourite that will bring visitors much joy over the festive season.

“Our Santa’s Grotto has become synonymous with Christmas in Milton Keynes and paired with the unrivalled shopping and dining opportunities including Ask Italian, John Lewis & Partners, and Harrods’ H beauty, we look forward to welcoming visitors for the ultimate festive day out.”In addition to Santa’s Grotto with The Snowman™, located outside John Lewis, visitors can experience the new VR sleigh ride, which takes a whistle stop virtual tour across the rooftops and night sky, even up to space, in a truly interactive experience which feels like flying. There is also the popular double-decker Victorian carousel, festive train ride and Christmas cabins, featuring unique gifts such as handmade jewellery and original paintings from a host of independent traders.

The whole centre will have a wonderfully festive atmosphere; beautiful Christmas lights will adorn centre:mk throughout, with free Instagram-worthy selfie-points dotted around the centre to create lasting memories, whilst visitors shop for gifts and dine at the many restaurants and cafes. There is something there for everyone.

Santa’s Grotto with The Snowman™ opens on 18 November and will run until 24 December. Children’s tickets will cost £13.75 in November and £16.50 in December. Baby and adult tickets will be £5.50 throughout.
