Every great pantomime has a hero – and Horwood House has joined forces with Aylesbury Waterside Theatre to find one who deserves their own moment in the spotlight this Christmas.
Horwood House, an award-winning, 4-star country house hotel and conference venue in Little Horwood, near Milton Keynes, has teamed up with the theatre to invite people across the county to nominate someone whose kindness and compassion have made a real difference to those around them.
Whether it is a dedicated volunteer, a neighbour who is always there when needed, an unpaid carer or simply somebody who has quietly gone above and beyond for others, the search aims to shine the spotlight on the people making their communities a better place.
The winning local hero will receive an overnight stay for two at Horwood House, as well as a family ticket for four to see Sleeping Beauty at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre.
The two parts of the prize can be enjoyed separately, giving the winner the chance to put their feet up with a stay at Horwood House before – or after – heading to the theatre for some traditional festive magic.
Caroline Morrone, General Manager at Horwood House Hotel, said: “Pantomimes might be full of heroes, but some of the most deserving are much closer to home.
“Across Buckinghamshire there are people doing wonderful things for others every day, often without expecting any recognition in return. Together with Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, we wanted to give people the chance to say thank you and put one of those real-life heroes centre stage.
“So, if there is somebody in your community who deserves their moment in the spotlight, we would love to hear their story.”
Nominations can be made for anyone aged 18 or over who lives, works or volunteers in Buckinghamshire. Entrants will be asked to explain what their nominee has done, who they have helped and why their contribution deserves to be recognised.
Nominations open on Monday, 28 September and close at 11:59pm on Friday, 30 October, before entries being considered by a judging panel.
The family ticket can be redeemed for selected performances of Sleeping Beauty at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre on Saturday, 2 January or Sunday, 3 January, with 1pm and 5.30pm performances available.
The Horwood House overnight stay includes a welcome drink, afternoon tea, £30 per person dinner allowance, 50-minute beauty treatment with a £10 per person credit to spend, full breakfast and spa access from 12 noon. It can be booked separately within six months of the winner being announced, subject to availability.
Caroline added: “Christmas is the perfect time to celebrate the people who bring a little extra kindness into other people’s lives. We know Buckinghamshire is full of them – now we just need the public to help us find our local hero.”
Entry is free and no hotel stay or pantomime booking is required. Self-nominations are not accepted.
