IF: Milton Keynes International Festival 2023 is calling for volunteers

IF: Milton Keynes International Festival, the city’s much-loved outdoor arts festival, is calling for volunteers. For ten days from 21 to 30 July, the Festival, which is produced by The Stables, supported by Arts Council England, Milton Keynes Council and presented in association with centre:mk, will be presenting live music, large-scale outdoor events and installations, circus shows, comedy, cabaret and free family activities in central Milton Keynes and beyond – and it’s looking for people to get involved.

The biennial Festival is delivered with the help of over 200 volunteers who work across all areas of the programme. Tasks include helping provide visitor information and stewarding or, behind the scenes, supporting artists and the production team with driving, administration, publicity and social media.

The Festival’s Volunteer Partner is MyMiltonKeynes, the city’s Business Improvement District. Chief Executive of MyMiltonKeynes Melanie Beck says:

“MyMiltonKeynes is delighted to be the volunteer partner for the second time. The volunteers are a massive part of the Festival success and through this agreement we want to ensure that the volunteers and visitors to the city have an enjoyable visit and with that a desire to return and explore other destinations Milton Keynes has to offer.”

Volunteering at the Festival is open to people of all backgrounds and abilities as long as they’re aged 16 and over.

Past volunteers have said:“It was a fantastic experience. I loved the opportunity to contribute to some cutting-edge art and culture right on my doorstep.”

“What a great sense of camaraderie. Everyone involved was genuinely friendly and helpful, and looked out for each other.”

The Festival Director Monica Ferguson says: “Volunteers are the friendly face of the Festival and they’re vital to its success. We know that our volunteers also get a lot out of being involved. It’s a chance to meet new people, be involved in world class events, play an important role in welcoming visitors to the city and supporting local communities to get involved. With our skills training and the experience gained by joining the team you can also add something eye-catching to your CV!”.
