Get into Summer with Get Around MK

Get into Summer with Get Around MK

Over the course of the six-week Summer break we’ll highlight things to do and areas to explore in the Get into Summer competition!

We’ll lead you on a trail of discovery, adventure and play.  We’ll introduce you to some of the Superheroes of Milton Keynes, guide you around the playparks, water wanders and tremendous trails we have on our doorstep.

The best bit is they are all accessible by the miles of Redways and Leisure Routes we are lucky to have in our wonderful city!

Milton Keynes has one of the best cycling networks in the UK, known as the Redways, as well as miles of leisure routes through green spaces. Get out on your bike this summer by joining a fun and friendly guided cycle ride.  The Get Around MK rides are open for anyone to join. Or If you fancy exploring in your own time, our five Cultural Routes are easy to follow routes and you can read about the art and heritage along the trail.

Family Cycle Training with Bikeability is a great way to have a family day out whilst learning new skills, whether you are an experienced cyclist or complete beginner, brushing up on or learning new skills is always a good thing.

This summer, residents are set to ‘Reclaim the Redways’ with the Guild Collective Redways/Colourways, hosting a series of workshops in various locations.  Additionally, three ‘open to all’ workshops will be held at Milton Keynes Arts Centre.  Each with a colour walk or cycle, exploring the biodiversity of their local area, foraging the flora to make a unique natural dye for tote bags.  All findings will be published in a colourways map.

Get Around MK has been developed by Milton Keynes Council to help residents and visitors travel by active and sustainable ways, creating a smarter, cleaner, greener city.  The benefits are clear, increased accessibility to services, education and employment, healthier lifestyles and reduced C02 from transport emissions.  We promote opportunities to try alternative types of transport in daily life.
