Tamakurya is a partnership between Takako Ledger and Maurya Brady: two self-described ‘craft-loving mums’ who live by the ‘Mottainai’ principle, which means not to waste – be that wasting an opportunity or a resource.
In this special workshop, Tamakurya introduce the ancient Japanese art of Furoshiki: a form of cloth wrapping that can be used for transporting gifts, objects or shopping. The 90-minute workshop will include a short history of Furoshiki and a variety of useful, multi-functional wrapping techniques using a single square piece of cloth and a variety of knots. Participants can expect to take home an adaptable and instantly useful skill to support sustainability. A selection of wraps will also be available to buy.
