StadiumMK
Designed by HOK, the internationally renowned architects responsible for the new Wembley, Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium and the Sydney Olympic Stadium, StadiumMK has been built to meet UEFA and FIFA Elite standard, enabling the hosting of national and international football and rugby matches as well as music concerts and other spectator events.
With a current capacity of 21,000, increasing to 31,000 in Phase 2, StadiumMK features an open concourse design unique to the UK allowing 360° spectator circulation and will eventually be among the largest and highest specification stadia in the country. In addition to all padded seating within the main bowl, the stadium has outstanding corporate facilities, including 60 executive boxes, VIP seating for over 450 guests, supported by hospitality facilities ranging in size from the 140-capacity pitch-view restaurant to the Clydesdale Bank Ballroom, which caters for 750 banqueting covers.
The football stadium has a wide range of state-of-the-art players' facilities including spacious dressing rooms with under-floor heating, showers, baths and adjacent treatment rooms. There are also individual warm-up rooms (7m x 14m), a fully equipped gymnasium and further medical treatment rooms, multiple match official rooms as well as drug testing rooms and facilities for press conferences and media events. Ultimately, a 15m x 6m swimming pool will follow as part of the Phase 2 works.
In September 2009 the stadium launched a 128 bed 4- star standard hotel, incorporating pitchview bedrooms and suites, pitch-view restaurant and lounge bar, sports bar, Business Centre and an extensive range of conference meeting rooms with balconies. This complements the existing Clydesdale Bank Ballroom and pitch-view Pre-Function area,
which can cater for 750 banqueting covers or 1,000 theatre style.
ArenaMK
In 2010, the facilities will be enhanced by the indoor arena; a triple height auditorium of 3,000 sq metres with dedicated event production offices, bars, concessions and public facilities, which will allow hosting of large-scale exhibitions and conferences, music concerts of up to 5,000 capacity, sporting events and large company functions catering for up to 2,500 diners.
The onsite parking facilities will be increased to provide parking for some 2,000 vehicles. When completed, the arena will host the Milton Keynes Lions basketball team who play in the British basketball league, which is the highest level of basketball in the country.
The 74-acre stadium site will also include a range of independent retailers, including fast food outlets, and has been developed to accommodate extensive parking and access/egress to the stadium without causing congestion to the surrounding roads and businesses.
