Headonist review

I was in a bit of a fluster when I arrived at Headonist in The Hub. A combination of a meeting that overran and every single traffic light being on red, meant my shoulders were up near my ears with tension and my heart was racing. However, within seconds of walking through the door I'd been whisked upstairs to one of the treatment rooms and Lorraine my therapist was asking me to choose which aromatherapy oils I wanted for my back and shoulder massage. I picked relaxing. It was much needed. I think I exhaled at this point.

Luckily the mixture of the calming music, the warm room and the nimble fingers of Lorraine, made the tension in my shoulders that had been hanging round for hours disperse. Now I like a good massage and while sometimes it's nice to have one that's all very soft and soothing, you also want to feel like those little knots have been negotiated to leave. Lorraine told mine where to go and it was fantastic. It's good to have a therapist who knows what she's doing.

Then off to the open mezzanine level for a manicure. The atmosphere in Headonist is bright and open, the crystal chandelier is gorgeous! Lorraine brought me a drink and a little snack and I felt pampered to the max as she shaped and polished my nails. We talked about many important issues while she worked (mainly Strictly Come Dancing) and I got some nails far glossier than I would ever have achieved myself.

Then downstairs to see Vanessa, hair magician as she should be known. "Bit of extra body" I said when she asked how I wanted my blow dry, in my heart knowing my poker straight hair doesn't really do 'body'. Somehow after another massage, this time of the head, while I was being shampooed at the funkiest snakeskin basins I've ever seen, she managed to va-va-voom my hair into volume. I didn't just walk out of The Hub that day, I sashayed.  If only I'd been able to convince my husband that my new look constituted a night out.  Ah well, it was a school night and I'm sure the window cleaner appreciated it when he came round for his money.

Summary
Headonist is a great place to go for a bit of pampering or simply a cut and blow dry. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and patient and actually use your name! It makes the service seem so much more personal, I think. They also provide drinks, from coffee to a chilled glass of wine, and on the day I visited, even had cakes raising money for charity. Every woman (and man) needs a salon they can get to know and trust, so why not give Headonist a go.

For parking, use The Sainsbury's car park and do your shopping on the way out, or find one of the many paid for parking spaces around The Hub.
