Wolverton Park has been voted the best mixed use development in the country at the What House? Awards, the housing industry’s Oscars recognising the best new homes in Britain.

Director of Marketing Miriam Morris and Project Director Ian Troughton  accepted the Gold Award on behalf of the property developer Places for People, at the glitzy awards ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.

Once the home of the Royal Train and steeped in railway history, Wolverton Park has been redeveloped by Places for People to provide 300 new homes alongside shops,  offices, restaurant and bar .   The site also boasts a two and a half acre park, an eco-pond, and canal frontage.

The judges praised the 'wonderful blend of old and new' homes on offer at the scheme and particularly admired the  three-story homes  built inside the Royal Train Shed building, noting the `quite incredible` construction and the `original character and superb lighting`.  They were impressed with the way in which many of the building's historical features have been incorporated into the new homes .

David Cowans, Chief Executive of Places for People said:  "We are thrilled to have won this award for our Wolverton Park development and to be recognised in the sector as a leading player in developing and delivering a successful mixed use community."
