Published - Monday, 09 November, 2009
The “The Big Top Christmas show” at thecentre:mk is now open and on the 16 November there will be a procession through the malls to officially open Santa’s Grotto with Santa himself coming long on the day. Starting at 4:30pm the parade will feature a friendly ringmaster and circus clowns from the National Clown Association leading Santa, in a specially designed clown car, and two children who have Milton Keynes’s biggest smiles.

Christmas at thecentre:mkOn the 16 November you can wave and cheer as the circus parade takes a new route from Door 1 next to M&S, through the shopping centre down both Midsummer Arcade and Silbury Arcade towards the Christmas show in Middleton Hall. The friendly ringmaster will lead a group of performing clowns who will interact with the audience as Santa is led through to open his magnificent Grotto.

After a fantastic response last year, with 70,000 people riding on the train, there’s a welcome return of the Santa’s Circus Train.  The show features huge red swags of fabric draped from the ceiling, Santa’s grotto dressed as a big top, a 30 foot tall Christmas tree, a wishing pool with a 35 foot tall dancing elephant as the centre piece, an animatronic performing ringmaster, a double decker carousel, 40 foot high helter skelter and dozens of animated circus figures hanging from trapeze, ropes, in cars, planes and custard pie throwing antics.

You can book online now to meet Santa or to ride on the train.
