Big Draw Family Day
Published - Monday, 19 October, 2009
On Saturday 31 October the Gallery opens its doors for the Big Draw Family Day, offering a variety of fun, drawing-related activities for people to drop in and try out between 11am and 4pm. All activities are inspired by the themes and content of the current exhibition of abstract drawings and photographs by important Indian artist, Nasreen Mohamedi. All activities are free!

The Gallery invites adults and children to come and spend quality time together and enjoy getting creative. And for those watching their purses at present there is no need to worry – admission to the gallery and all the activities are free!

Both indoor and outdoor activities are planned (weather permitting), so people intending to participate should come dressed for the weather.  Although no booking is required, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Activities have been planned to suit differing ages and abilities, including a paper trail quiz, collective construction of a giant pyramid, drawing to rhythm for little ones, how to make 3D drawings and a workshop for young people and adults teaching drawing techniques such as line and tone.

Visitors can be assured of an enjoyable and inspiring event, as the Gallery has repeatedly won Drawing Inspiration Awards for the last four years for the quality and inventiveness of its Big Draw Family Days.  In fact, as a measure of success, the Gallery’s event last year was the Runner Up in the Awards, out of the 1,250 events that took place across the nation.
