The Open University Choir travels to St Barnabas Church, Linslade on 17 November, to present an hour-long Sunday afternoon concert of late 19th/early 20th century French choral music. The main work in the concert will be the sublime Requiem by Maurice Duruflé (1902–1986), which he composed in 1947. The OU Choir, conducted by Dennis Pim, will perform the original choir and organ version of the piece, and the Choir is delighted to have been able to secure the services of professional recitalist Paul Carr (paulcarr.co.uk)  as their organist.

The concert will begin with Fauré’s well-known Cantique de Jean Racine, and includes two other French pieces, a sparkling organ solo by Henri Mulet and a short unaccompanied choral piece by Déodat de Sévérac.

The concert begins at 4pm. Tea and cakes will be provided after the concert by members of the Church (in aid of St Barnabas Church).

Tickets at £8 (under 16 free) will be available on the door or in advance via http://www.open.ac.uk/wikis/ouchoir/Durufle_Requiem where updated information about the concert can be found. The ticket price includes a printed programme.

St Barnabas Church is fully accessible. It has free parking and is adjacent to Leighton Buzzard mainline railway station (Euston to Birmingham line).
