Uncover the history of Milton Keynes with The Parks Trust

The Parks Trust have put together an inspirational programme of heritage events as part of this year’s Heritage Open Days.

Heritage Open Days is a community heritage festival that takes place over ten days and celebrates all things heritage that can be found across the UK. You can find almost 100 events in Milton Keynes to take part in from 11 – 20th September, including several offerings from The Parks Trust.

The theme for this year’s Heritage Open Days is ‘Hidden Nature’ and in 2020 you’ll be able to join The Parks Trust team at various events across the city to discover its surprising history. On Monday 14th September you can join a Heritage Walk around Waterhall Park where you’ll learn about the natural heritage and historical features in this area, whilst being guided by one of our rangers.

On Tuesday 15th September you can enjoy a Discovery Stroll around Linford Lakes Nature Reserve, in this short stroll you’ll be able to explore this hidden gem located in Milton Keynes. On Wednesday 16th September, The Parks Trust will be hosting a Heritage Walk around Ouzel Valley Park, where you’ll learn about the Scheduled Ancient Monuments found in this area. On the same day you can also join a walk around the Ouse Valley and Floodplain Forest Nature Reserve with one of our Rangers.

Through the ten days we will also have several events taking place at Great Linford Manor Park. On Friday 18th, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th September you can join a guided family friendly walk to uncover the history of Great Linford Manor Park and find out all about the ancient buildings and features within the park, as well as learning about many of its historical residents who called the park home.

All of our events as part of Heritage Open Days are free, but we require you to pre-book a ticket. Due to covid-19 there will be limited spaces for each event. To find out more and to book follow the links below.
