Macbeth – Thursday 17 and Friday 18 May, 7.30.pm

Dance has been described as a series of movements performed to music, but that hardly does justice to the stunning late spring season at Stantonbury - MK’s other, yet intimate theatre. Highlights of the season are two distinct world class dance theatre productio ns –which are brought right to your doorstep by two highly acclaimed world class dance theatre companies, and designed to inspire, be thought provoking as well as enthral the audience.

Border Tales, Tuesday 1 May 7.30pm
From Luca Silvestrini’s, highly acclaimed Protein Dance Company

Border Tales is a punchy yet poignant commentary on multicultural Britain, using dance, live music and dialogue compiled from the performers’ personal experiences. Brought back and presented in what we now know as a ‘post-Brexit’ Britain, Border Tales looks at our country, seen through the eyes of an international cast and gazes satirically on stereotypical thinking and migrant outsiders.

Described as accessible, Border Tales is a great introduction to contemporary dance, using, speech, live music and dance to help inform the performance.
It is presented by seven professional performers, all of whom are British born from multi-cultural backgrounds. This story is their journey through personal, cultural and physical borders.   The score is by Andy Pink, and additional music by Anthar Kharana, performed live on stage, with lighting by Jackie Shemesh.

Macbeth - Thursday 17 and Friday 18 May 7.30pm
From the multi-award-winning Mark Bruce Company

The multi-award winning MARK BRUCE COMPANY brings their haunting and critically acclaimed dance/theatre re-imagining of Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ to the Stantonbury Theatre in Milton Keynes on May 17th and 18th – it’ll be the last dates in a mammoth UK tour.

With direction and choreography by visionary artistic director Mark Bruce, a cast of nine outstanding performers and dramatic design by the same creative team behind Dracula and The Odyssey, Mark Bruce Company’s ‘Macbeth’ realise a beautifully harrowing vision of an internal wasteland formed from the pursuit of power through ruthless means.

Drama, dance and film audiences are drawn to Bruce's imaginative vision of the treacherous Macbeths’ (Jonathan Goddard, Eleanor Duval left, photo by Nicole Guarino) toxic world of jealousy, ambition and corruption. Set in a supernatural and brutal underworld, both tragic and beautiful, with a horror film atmosphere of menace and murder
