On Saturday 24 March 2018 The Open University Choir returns to St Mary and St Giles in Stony Stratford to present a concert of music for Holy Week. The varied programme, conducted by Dennis Pim with Paul Daggett playing the Willis organ, follows the events of Holy Week and includes music ranging from ninth century plainsong through to twentieth century works, with the main items on the programme Edward Elgar’s setting of Psalm 29 Give unto the Lord; Malcolm Williamson’s Procession of Palms; and the dramatic setting of the St John Passion by Heinrich Schütz, sung in English. Choral items by Victoria, Bruckner and Franck are also included, with the programme of music  knitted into a coherent whole by the singing of appropriate short plainsong tunes between the main pieces.

The concert begins at 7.30 pm. Tickets are £12 (under 16 free) and are available online from Music for All @SMSG  Tickets will also be available on the door.
