Milton Keynes Marathon

THE MARATHON COMES BACK TO MILTON KEYNES

Following on from the two hugely successful race in 2012 and 2013 the third Milton Keynes Marathon will take place on Bank Holiday Monday 5 May 2014 and you can enter now.

Race Route
This is a city marathon with a difference.  With 4,500 acres of woodlands, lakesides, parks and landscaped areas within the city boundary, Milton Keynes is the ideal venue for a Green Marathon.  The one lap course is traffic free on closed roads and cycle paths or “redways” as they are known locally, and without any significant incline there is real PB potential for all participants.

Big Finish
Runners and spectators will enjoy an electric atmosphere at the finish of the race inside the state of the art Stadium MK, home of Milton Keynes Dons FC.  With plenty more entertainment en route this will be a race to remember. April's event attracted thousands of spectators, in spite of adverse weather conditions, and next promises to offer the same support for runners and a great day out for those watching. In addition to the main Marathon and the Corporate Relay event sponsored by Geoffrey Leaver Solicitors there will be a Fancy Dress Fun Run for friends and family.  The Fun Run will be open to all so that everyone can have their chance to walk or run and cross the finish line inside the Stadium.

Official Backing
The event has the backing of Milton Keynes Council, the MK Parks Trust, Milton Keynes Dons FC and Destination Milton Keynes, the city’s official tourism and information provider.  Many businesses from the local area are being encouraged to become event sponsors or will hopefully be participating in the Corporate Relay to run alongside the main race.

Why Milton Keynes?
At its inception in 1967 only 60,000 lived and 21,000 people worked in what’s now the Borough of Milton Keynes. Today, 236,700 live and over 130,000 work in this thriving, young and modern city. Communications are excellent and competitors in the race will find travel and accommodation in Milton Keynes easy and convenient.  Seven of the city’s sporting venues have been chosen as Olympic training camps for the 2012 London games.
