The Stables

Welcome to The Stables – founded by the world renowned jazz musicians Sir John Dankworth and Dame Cleo Laine in outbuildings in their garden in Wavendon in 1969.  In October 2000, the new Stables Theatre opened its doors on a 398 seat auditorium which now presents over 200 concerts and over 200 education sessions each year.

The intimate auditorium has proved to be a favourite venue for many of the world's finest musicians from the world of pop, rock, jazz, classical and roots music with recent concert highlights including Joan Armatrading, Courtney Pine, Bill Wyman, Dave Brubeck, Nigel Kennedy, Beth Neilsen Chapman, Paul Carrack, Nils Lofgren, Eric Bibb, Steve Hackett, Antonio Forcione, Evelyn Glennie, Walter Trout, Thea Gilmore, Suzanne Vega, Cerys Matthews, Kate Rusby, Nerina Pallot and Nuru Kane to name but a few.

The Stables welcomes people with disabilities. The auditorium benefits from an infra-red hearing loop. Please inform the Box Office of any special requirements when you book your tickets.

EATING:
Café in2 offers a variety of pre-performance snacks, light meals and an array of desserts, all cooked freshly on the premises.  Open from 6pm, Café in2 enhances your evening by providing informal pre-show dining and real food made by a real chef who uses fresh ingredients sourced from some of the best local suppliers to create light tasty dishes, full of flavour but short on additives – and reasonably priced!
