intu Milton KeynesThe festive sales helped to bring 2014 to a fantastic end for footfall and sales, confirmed intu Milton Keynes.   

Christmas arrived at the Centre with a bang this year at Milton Keynes’s first ever Christmas Light Switch On supported by the much-loved annual mascot parade with Gulliver's Land, which was closely followed by Black Friday on 28 November.  

"The Black Friday Weekend was a great success for us, footfall was significantly up and our Black Friday offer wall saw a huddle of people constantly checking discounts throughout the day and indeed, the weekend.  There were amazing deals on all sorts of things, from highly desirable tech products to fashion must-haves, which saw a frenzy of Christmas shoppers get ahead on their Christmas shopping,” said General Manager at intu Milton Keynes, Martin Hindson.

Footfall for the year was up throughout 2014 compared to 2013 plus retailers are reporting ‘good’ sales over the Christmas period.

Martin adds: "The stores themselves looked incredible; the Christmas themed window displays, whether gift ideas or winter fashion, enhanced the festive feeling around the Centre and certainly inspired shoppers. December saw the introduction of late night shopping throughout the week and free parking from 6pm in and around the Centre, giving shoppers ample chance to shop before Christmas Eve!"

Boxing Day saw shoppers in from as early at 6am lead by the beginning of the January sales and some of the biggest discounts of the retail year. Savvy shoppers from across Milton Keynes were eager to take advantage of discounts from stores such as Debenhams, GAP and Hollister.

Intu Milton Keynes will also finish the year with 98% retailer capacity following the recent openings of Vodafone, Whitewall Galleries and Kokoro Sushi & Bento restaurant, which opened on Boxing Day.

Martin Hindson, concludes: “We have had a very exciting year and a highly positive end to the year. The retailers are telling me that they are hitting and exceeding their targets and they have performed better than expected during the festive period. We are predicting that this momentum will continue into 2015 as people take advantage of the January sales.”
