You can 'Bank' on The Hub this Christmas

Date Posted:01/12/2014

MK Foodbank The HubFor the third year in a row The Hub, Milton Keynes’ premier restaurant, café, bar and lifestyle  quarter in the heart of the city, is running a Facebook campaign to raise much needed funds for a local charity.

During December, for every new “like” The Hub receives on its Facebook page, £1.00 will be donated to MK Food Bank.  The charity provides local families and individuals with essential food supplies when they are most in need.  That need has gone up massively during these times of austerity; so-much-so that the number of food parcels given out in the city has gone up by a staggering 72% in the last two years.

Simon Spavins, Managing Director of Broadoak Management which runs The Hub says, “As the city’s premier dining destination MK Food Bank is the ideal charity for The Hub to support.  Our friends in the social media community have really got behind this campaign over the last couple of years and we’re hoping for even more support this year to break our target of £1,000.”

MK Food Bank distributed just under 13,000 food packs in 2013 and a typical single adult food pack costs around £15 to produce, so donations of both food and money are critical to enable the charity to keep providing this much needed service.
