Xscape Grotto helps raise much needed funds for YMCA

Christmas is a time for giving and this year visitors to the free Santa’s grotto at Xscape Milton Keynes did just that, helping to raise much needed funds for the city’s YMCA charity.

The grotto was open in the run up to Christmas and was free for families to meet the big man and tell him what they wished for in their stockings, but visitors were also able to make a voluntary donation to Xscape’s charity of the year, YMCA Milton Keynes. When all the donations were totalled up, generous customers had raised just under £3,000.

The new YMCA MK campus is due to open within the next few months, and the year-long partnership with Xscape Milton Keynes has helped to raise awareness and some of the much needed funds to fit out the 199 rooms that will help the charity support its young people with affordable accommodation and a dedicated pathway of support, including well-being, training and employment opportunities.

Nick Coppock, General Manager at Xscape MK, commented, “We are grateful to our very generous customers, this is the fourth year that we’ve run our free grotto which is incredibly popular with visitors. Allowing people to make a voluntary donation always gets a great response, but this year is above and beyond. We hope the money raised will really help the YMCA to provide their much-needed services to more young people across the city.”
