Date Posted:16/05/2017

Bucks Open StudiosBucks Open Studios, the largest visual arts event in Buckinghamshire, has announced a star-studded line-up, including Flavia Cacace (Strictly Come Dancing), Michael Praed (Emmerdale and Robin of Sherwood), Clive Mantle (Holby City and Game of Thrones), Gary Wilmot (The Wind in the Willows, Big The Musical) and Rupert Fawcett (Off the Leash cartoonist), for its launch event “Brush: With Fame”.

Brush: With Fame, which takes place on Sunday 28th May, in Middleton Hall in thecentre:mk, Milton Keynes, will see the stars offering up their famous faces to the brushes of 18 distinguished painters exhibiting at this year’s Bucks Open Studios. The talented artists will have just 4 hours to skilfully capture the celebrities to canvas and the public will be able to get up close to and watch them in action; all for free!

Brush: With Fame is being held to officially launch the 2017 Bucks Open Studios season, the annual artistic extravaganza, which takes place 10-25th June. For two weeks over 500 local artists and craftsmen will invite the public in to see how they work, what they make and, in some cases allow people to try their hand at their methods for themselves.

Dancer Flavia, who starts touring in September with Vincent and their new show Tango Moderno, said: “I come from quite an artistic family; both my uncle and brother are incredible painters but I’ve never had my portrait painted! I’m always on the move and never still so sitting for a portrait is going to be a real challenge but I am really looking forward to the event and seeing the end results by the amazing Bucks Open Studios artists.”

Holby City and Game of Thrones star, Clive Mantle says: “I’m delighted to be taking part as I feel it’s so important for the public to be aware of all the creative talent in Buckinghamshire.  I’m also hoping that my participation will also help boost paint sales as they will need to use so much for my wrinkles and laughter lines!”

Michael Praed, currently playing jailbird Frank Clayton in Emmerdale, said; “I’ve never had my portrait painted before and I am very interested to see the different painter’s styles in the end results. I’m a great supporter of art and local artists and I wish all the painters taking part the very best of luck.”

Actor and Milton Keynes local, Gary Wilmot, who will be appearing as Badger in The Wind in the Willows, a musical written by Julian Fellowes at the London Palladium in June said: “I’ve had a bit of a dabble on the easel drawing and painting but maybe not to the standard of the Bucks Open Studios artists ! I completely appreciate the value of the arts and I am delighted to be taking part in this wonderful event to promote Buckinghamshire’s artistic talent.”

Rupert Fawcett, the cartoonist responsible for Fred, Off the Leash and Daddy, said:” I’m delighted to be taking part in this wonderful event and, as an artist myself, feel it’s so important to make the public aware of all the wonderful creative talent on their doorstep.”
