In the run up to Christmas, Destination Milton Keynes joined forces with MK News to run a creative drawing competition for children across the city. The simple task was to draw ‘Santa in MK’ and, as usual, Milton Keynes didn’t let them down.
Many entries were received, all in with a chance of winning a huge family prize bundle worth over £500 including tickets to MK Lightning, Safari MK and Snozone plus other prizes from Xscape, Nando’s, Giovanni’s Gelato and Simply Race.
The judge with the difficult task of picking a winner was Katharine Sorensen, Communications Director at MK Gallery but after much deliberation the winner has been announced as Jada DaCosta, aged six, from Shenley Brook End. Her imaginative drawing of Santa being pulled by cows and getting stuck on The Point, captured the essence of the competition.
Katharine Sorensen commented after the judging; “There was a fantastic selection of imaginative drawings and paintings to choose from, so thank you and well done to every single child who entered the competition! It was a close decision, but in the end the stand out entry was a simple, bold design featuring Santa above the iconic Point building which made a strong visual connection with central MK, and it also really captured the fun side of the competition brief; I just loved the idea of Santa having flying cows instead of reindeer when he comes to MK!”
Two other entries were also ‘Highly Commended’ from Bailey Hill, aged 5, and Ben Rowe, aged 8, who will also be receiving prizes from Safari MK and Nando’s in Kingston.
