Stantonbury TheatreAfter a triumphant festive production of Red Riding Hood Versus The Wolf, Stantonbury Theatre has lined up an exciting Spring season.

World class dance features prominently in the ambitious season. On 1 March, Shane Shambhu brings the acclaimed, hilarious autobiographical show Confessions Of A Cockney Temple Dancer to Milton Keynes. The award-winning artist and Complicite Associate leads audiences on a revealing journey of his life from unlikely dance student to ‘rude boy’ to international performer, reflecting on how race, language, identity and cultures have defined him and his career. On 2 April, Charlotte Vincent’s powerful and darkly funny film installation Shut Down will be played across six screens, with an outstanding cast of seven performers including three talented teenagers, investigating the pressures, contradictions and confusions of being a man today. For families, Protein Dance return to Stantonbury with their dance version of The Little Prince, playing on 26 and 27 April.

Other family shows included in the season include stage versions of well-known books – including Michael Morpurgo’s Mimi And The Mountain Dragon (17 February), Benji Davies’ Grandad’s Island (18 February) and David Baddiel’s Animalcolm (14 April). There are also a host of new shows like interstellar adventure The Star Seekers (31 March), interactive musical You Choose (15 April), and the unique sensory production Nest (4 March), designed for the youngest theatregoers aged up to 18 months.

High quality drama is never far away at Stantonbury Theatre, with forthcoming season highlights including good dog by Arinze Kene about growing up in a multi-cultural community, The Shroud Maker by Ahmed Masoud about an elderly woman making a living despite the ongoing conflict in Gaza, and A Super Happy Story (About Feeling Super Sad), the award-winning cabaret musical throwing a new light on depression.

Lucy Cuthbertson, artistic director of Stantonbury Theatre, said “the launch of a new season is always an exciting time, and I am delighted to be bringing some of the country’s finest dance and theatre companies to Milton Keynes to present a season for theatregoers of all ages.”
