Destination Milton Keynes (DMK), the official Destination Management Organisation for the city, in partnership with centre:mk has opened the new MK Visitor Information Centre (VIC).
The VIC is located on Silbury Arcade opposite John Lewis and close to Door 13 and was officially opened today (22 July) by the Mayor of Milton Keynes. It is the place to go for local, regional and international visitors to Milton Keynes, and has up-to-date information on attractions, hotels, events and travel options for the 100,000s of visitors that MK attracts every year.
It is hoped that the VIC will be become a real focal point for visitors travelling to and staying in Milton Keynes for this year’s Rugby World Cup which will inevitably put MK on the global map.
DMK has worked with a number of partners and stakeholders on the project to open the new VIC including MK Council, Whittlebury Hall Conference, Training Centre, Hotel & Spa, iprint MK, Get Smart Promotions and Yowzer Signs and the DMK membership.
Steven Gordon-Wilson, CEO of DMK said; “With over 24 million visitors a year, centre:mk was seen as the ideal location for a Visitor Information Centre. We are delighted to have worked closely with the shopping centre and our other partners to finally bring back this facility which the city has been missing for around 10 years.”
Kevin Duffy, Centre Director at centre:mk commented; “We are delighted to work with Destination MK in providing this fantastic new facility for visitors to Milton Keynes. As a major regional shopping mall we are increasingly attracting visitors from further afield and it’s therefore important we are able to effectively promote the wider city offer.”
Michael Stott, Director at Whittlebury Hall Conference, Training Centre, Hotel & Spa said, “We are delighted to be a supporter of the Visitor Information Centre in Milton Keynes, which we believe is a real asset to the destination, promoting the wealth on offer in Milton Keynes and the surrounding area to both locals and tourists alike.”
The VIC is open seven days a week; Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 11am to 4pm. It will also be retailing MK and Rugby World Cup memorabilia.
