MK Handmade & Vintage Fair returns in September

Date Posted:17/08/2015

Handmade and Vintage FairThe weekend of 5-6 SEPTEMBER sees the keenly anticipated return of the MK Handmade & Vintage Weekend Extravaganza, one of our region's most popular events. Middleton Hall, in front of John Lewis in thecentre:mk, is transformed into a treasure trove of 128 colourful indoor market stalls, a paradise for lovers of the unusual and unique.  For savvy shoppers who aren’t slaves to high street trends and prices, the event offers an eclectic mix of thousands of handmade and vintage items you won’t find in the shops.

Now in its fIfth year and with its high reputation for quality, originality and very affordable prices attracting visitors from across the country, this quarterly event invites the cream of our region's independent designer-makers, artists and vintage/retro sellers – an eclectic mix and an exceptional range of talents.  Forget Brighton or Camden – we think this huge market is better, it's right on our doorstep, it’s indoors, every item is unique, and it’s FREE entry!  For those who haven’t visited before, it’s quite a spectacle and has a great atmosphere.

Event organiser, Jacqui Lewis says  “This vibrant event  is established as an excitingly different shopping experience, in the centre of MK.  Our standards are high and our very carefully selected mix of exhibitors offer everything from furniture to fashions, from jewellery to jukeboxes;  the gorgeous, the cool and the quirky – all exhibitors passionate about what they do, and every item a one-off."

For September amongst the stalls we can expect to see are some of the best top-end vintage clothes and accessory sellers in the business, lots of newcomer retro/vintage sellers, some exceptionally talented local interior designers with a reputation for sourcing the gorgeous and unusual, dressmakers, a wide range of collectables, original art, glass-makers, casting for sculptures of children's hands, kitchenalia, unusual handbag makers, luxury handmade natural skincare, jukeboxes, record players and vinyl, mannequins, haberdashery, crocheters and knitters, leather accessories, makers of unique tiles, mirrors, crazy upcycled lamps, handmade pens, quilt makers, luxury teddy bear makers, personalised interior design pieces, furniture - newly made, originally upcycled trendy retro pieces and always a few oddities, our unusual home home-made ice cream bar, and our very own famously quirky Brocant boys with Goodness knows what from their recent haul of the auction houses and brocantes of Europe! Our resident sign-writer will be there with his unique style of sign-written pieces of furniture.  Add into the mix a traditional home brewer, home baking and foodie stalls, unique quirky jewellery refashioned from antique silverware and exquisite silver jewellery encasing real flowers, a vintage collector specialising in top end designer dresses, a Japanese calligraphy and origami expert, and dozens more very special exhibitors – there really is something, old or new, for every one, every age, every home and every occasion.

If you love a unique style, high quality items, the thrill of the bargain hunt, and wish to buy local, don’t miss this unique event.  Get along to Middleton Hall – but remember to allow yourself a good few hours to explore everything!

The market is there for 2 days only –  Saturday 5th September (9am-7pm) and Sunday 6th September (10.30am-5pm).
