Milton Keynes College is set to play host to some of the city’s top salon talent with the launch of 2015’s Milton Keynes Barber of the Year contest.
The competition will see professional Barbers from across Milton Keynes take part in heats hosted by the College’s in-house salon, The Graduate, on Monday 18th May 2015 from 5pm.
With competition expected to be fierce, contestants will be hoping to make the cut and qualify for the final ‘Barber-off’, being held at Middleton Hall, centre:mk, on Friday 12th June on the centre stage.
The Graduate is Milton Keynes College’s commercial salon where students are given the opportunity to work alongside professionals and hone their skills, utilising the lessons learned in the classroom for the benefit of members of the public.
This year’s Milton Keynes Barber of the Year competition will also allow our Level 2 Barber students to take part in a complimentary competition “The MK College Trainee Barber of the Year” contest, giving them a unique opportunity to learn from the professionals and further develop their own techniques.

“To be given the chance to see the city’s brightest talent put to the test in a competitive and engaging environment can only help to bring out the best from our outstanding learners and allow them to demonstrate their own individual brilliance alongside professionals.”
All levels of skills welcome to participate in Milton Keynes Barber of the Year 2015. Two entrants will be selected for each of the following categories:
Semi-finals and finals will be held from 1pm on the 12th June 2015 on stage at Middleton Hall, centre:mk, Milton Keynes. A winner will be announced for each category and the overall winner selected for overall MK Barber of the Year.
Entrants will be required to bring their own models for the competitions. Parking is available on site at The Graduate. All applications must be supplied by 5pm on the 30th of April 2015. Terms and conditions are available on request, application packs will be sent to entrants who express an interest.
