Half-term hands-on fun at Milton Keynes Museum

Half term at Milton Keynes MuseumThey work hard during term time, so it's only fair that children get lots of time to enjoy themselves in the holidays – and they will find no better place to do so this half term, than at Milton Keynes Museum.

The 'Professor's' popular science show returns, and youngsters will be able to participate in some of the experiments, carry out their own and get involved in science-themed crafting, ensuring little minds are kept busy.

Visitors will also be able to grab a guided-quiz sheet and take part in a science trail through the galleries to find out how some of the museum's artefacts work, and explore the science behind them.

How do vibrations create sound? How does heat change colour?

A visit to the museum this holiday will prove that learning can be a whole lot of fun! Half term week at the museum (running February 17-23) boasts something for everyone. From sending morse code, to making and then enjoying hot buttered toast over the range in the traditional farmhouse kitchen. Or how about dialling delight in the fun Connected Earth Gallery?

You can step back in time with a walk through the street of shops, or enjoy a school lesson the way things used to be in the Victorian school room. Without the cane, obviously! Young motoring enthusiasts will love the Hall of Transport, and parlour games will let you experience the entertainment of choice before the television was a thing.

The museum's hands-on policy will let you show off your skills on the pianola, which makes anyone sound like a genius. The museum will also be offering two quiet hour sessions for families and children with special needs on Tuesday, February 18 and Sunday, February 23, between 10am and 11am.

Come rain or come shine, Milton Keynes Museum has plenty to entertain young and old, and when you feel a bit peckish, the Granary Tea Room will banish hunger pangs with affordable snacks and delicious homemade cakes aplenty. For guaranteed fun, treat the kids and yourselves to a visit to Milton Keynes Museum.

Standard admission prices apply – which will give you FREE entry for the following 12 months; adults £10, child £7, concessions £8.
A family ticket (admitting two adults and up to four children) is £30.
