Destination MK scoops prestigious business award

Date Posted:14/03/2018

The small team at Destination Milton Keynes was very honoured to win the Business Impact in the Community Award at the recent Milton Keynes Business Achievements Awards held in early March.

The annual awards recognise the achievements of Milton Keynes’ businesses of a variety of sizes and sectors across a diverse number of categories.
Destination MK was shortlisted against two other exceptional organisations; Red Thread Partnership Limited and Milton Keynes Hospital Charity both who do fantastic work within the Milton Keynes community.

The award was presented to the Destination MK CEO, Steven Gordon-Wilson by Stewart Elsmore from The Hoteliers Association, sponsors of the category.
As a not-for-profit organisation, Destination MK strives to promote Milton Keynes both locally, regionally and nationally and as a membership organisation they are constantly looking for ways and methods to make sure their members get the maximum amount of benefits they can.

The visitor economy is worth over £232 million a year to the area and with investment such as new hotels and attractions arriving almost monthly plus the ongoing development of existing tourism sites, they believe that now more than ever, the visitor economy can play a vital role in the future plans for the city.

Steven Gordon-Wilson commented after receiving the award, “I am thrilled at this recognition for the Destination MK team who work tirelessly to promote the city they are so passionate about and we are very grateful to our membership without whose support over the last ten years plus, we could not have achieved this wonderful accolade.”
