Your mobile guide to Milton Keynes

DMK and VisitEngland prepare your business for the worst

Date Posted:19/03/2014

In response to the recent extreme weather conditions across the UK, the Government has awarded a £2 million tourism package to VisitEngland, the national tourist board, to support destinations and tourism businesses.

Destination Milton Keynes has partnered with VisitEngland to run a free Business Resilience Workshop, aimed at all tourism businesses in the local and regional area, to help them understand the impact that extreme weather may have on their business, what it means for tourism as a whole, and how to ensure that their business is ready for any future environmental issues.

The workshop is taking place at Jurys Inn, Central Milton Keynes on Friday 28th March from 10am – 3pm and is free for all tourism-based businesses in and around Milton Keynes.

VisitEngland’s Chief Executive James Berresford said: “We welcome this additional funding from Government to support the tourism industry. It has enabled us to act fast and, together with Destination Milton Keynes,  we are providing vital on the ground support to help businesses become more resilient against severe weather conditions in the future.

A price-led advertising campaign in March will support our efforts to reassure visitors that England remains a beautiful and exciting destination to visit this spring and summer.”
