Clash of Drums sets MK alight

Date Posted:06/10/2015

Clash of Drums Milton KeynesOver 12,000 people processed through the streets of Milton Keynes and packed into The Point Car Park to experience Clash of Drums/Danbor Talka last Friday and Saturday night. Produced by The Stables and IF: Milton Keynes International Festival, this thrilling outdoor event was presented as Milton Keynes’ Official Spectacular to celebrate Rugby World Cup 2015 and was commissioned by the Parks Trust.

International companies Les Commandos Percu (from France) and Deabru Beltzak (from the Basque region of Spain) did battle in the streets using drumming, fearsome war-like chanting and stunning pyrotechnics in what one viewer called a brilliant “Mad Max/Street Riot mash-up”. One of the most intricate, dramatic and cleverly choreographed firework displays and live events the city has ever seen, audiences took to social media to express their reactions:

"INCREDIBLE! Go tomorrow if you missed it!!"
"Wow, wow, wow - just been to Clash of Drums"
"What a special way to celebrate the Rugby World Cup in MK!"
"Milton Keynes was hitting way above its weight tonight at Clash of the Drums. Fantastic"
"Absolutely amazing! MK mixing sport and art in a way only we can do!"
"Now that's what I call a Rugby World Cup spectacular!"

Les Commandos Percu and Deabru Beltzak were joined for this extraordinary spectacular by a team of eight UK and Milton Keynes-based pyrotechnic artists from Festive Road.
