Celebrity chef inspires students on the road to success

Date Posted:23/01/2014

BBC MasterChef judge, Claire Clark, has been inspiring students in Milton Keynes College’s catering department with tales of her glittering career at some of the most prestigious restaurants and hotels in the country.

Claire has worked at such well-known eateries as The Ritz and Claridges and is recognised as one of Britain’s top chefs.  Her tour of the fantastic catering facilities available at the College included a visit to the newly refurbished restaurant, The Brasserie, which allows students to showcase their work to (paying) guests.

Claire was very impressed with the level of skill and dedication shown by the students and said, “It gives me great pleasure to be able to provide inspiration and support to such an enthusiastic and dedicated team."

Claire’s own career began at College and she was able to remember what it felt like to be a junior caterer on the first step of her journey to become a professional chef. Level 3 Professional Cookery student and 2013 Student of the Year finalist, Daniel Jackson, explained, “Hearing Claire speaking about her career was inspiring.  I’d like to work in top restaurants and Claire’s rich and varied experiences make me want to push myself harder to achieve my goals.”

Maria Bowness, Deputy Director Faculty of Creative and Service Industries department added, “Claire was a true inspiration to the students and I am thrilled she is keen to be a part of our work here at Milton Keynes College. Claire is hoping to discuss the qualifications we offer and has agreed to judge our very own, student MasterChef.”
