British Karting Championships comes to MK

Date Posted:11/01/2016

British Karting ChampionshipsOne of the biggest events on the karting calendar, the British Rental Kart Championship, is coming to Milton Keynes’ Formula Fast this January; with up to a £1000 cash prize up for grabs.

From 15th to 17th January, hundreds of karting enthusiasts from around the world will visit MK’s biggest indoor motorsport destination to compete for their chance to win the cash prize, plus seeded entry to the Kart World Championship.

Over three days of fast and furious action with hundreds of gallons of petrol being burned, the top ten racers with the highest points total over the weekend will contest the Grand Final on Sunday 17 January. A 30 minute battle for the podium places will reveal the top three racers who will automatically get free entry into the Kart World Championship as part of Team GB.

Recently confirmed double champions Lee Hackett and Ruben Boutens have signed up for this year’s championship. Since the inception of BRKC in 2010, only two drivers have won the championship more than once. Lee Hackett was triumphant in 2012 & 2013 during the ‘multi-round’ incarnation of BRKC. In 2014 & 2015 it was Dutchman Ruben Boutens who claimed the overall victory.

The battle between these two giants of karting – as well as many more big names – will be fascinating to watch when BRKC 2016 gets started on the 15 of January. The event is broadcast online via Livestream with a full camera crew and live commentary throughout. There’s more action off the track as drivers aim for top of the leaderboard at the brand new BluePrint Simulator Racing centre, also located at the circuit.

Ollie Fox, Owner and Race Director at Formula Fast, said: “We can’t wait to welcome the British Rental Kart Championship once again to Formula Fast. After a fantastic 2015, it’s always a busy start as we prepare for the biggest event on our calendar, but BRKC is the start of what I’m sure will be another incredible year. Spectators and drivers can expect a high energy weekend of fun, thrills, tension, anticipation and incredible racing skills.”
