Barber of the Year at MK College

Date Posted:26/04/2016

MK CollegeMilton Keynes Barber of the Year is back for 2016, offering local stylists the chance to demonstrate their skills and go head to head with the best talent from across the City.

Now into its second year, the Barber of the Year contest sees entrants in three categories showcasing their abilities in a round of heats held at The Graduate Salon at Milton Keynes College on Monday 16th May.

The Graduate is Milton Keynes College’s commercial salon where students are given the opportunity to work alongside professionals and hone their skills, utilising the lessons learned in the classroom for the benefit of members of the public.

Entrants for the competition will be divided into three categories, Classic, Modern Twist and Patterns, with a panel of expert judges selecting the chosen stylists for the live finals, which will take place at the College’s summer showcase event at Middleton Hall on Friday 17th June.

At the live final, contestants will have the opportunity to show off their skills in front of a busy and lively crowd before the category winners will be announced, followed by the overall Barber of the Year.

Last year’s event saw a fantastic number of entrants from a wide variety of salons and barbers, with some fierce competition as contestants looked to make the cut. After some serious styles and contemporary creations, the overall winner was Demi Hockley, who wowed the judges with her classic skills and creativity.

This year’s competition is open to all professional barbers, who will be required to bring their own models for the competition.
