Published - Thursday, 09 October, 2008
VisitBritain, Britain's official travel and tourism guide, has heralded Xscape Milton Keynes as the most visited free attraction within the UK. The award-winning destination with a real indoor snowslope, multiplex cinema, extreme sports, retail outlets, restaurants and a nightclub, attracted a whopping 6.9 million visitors in 2007. This is streets ahead of its nearest rival, Blackpool Pleasure Beach (5.5 million visitors) and the British Museum (5.4 million visitors).

Furthermore, its sister venue Xscape Castleford, came top in the same survey as Yorkshire’s most visited free attraction, with over 3.7 million visitors through its doors in 2007.

Chief Executive of X-Leisure and Xscape,  PY Gerbeau said, “I’m thrilled that Xscape has been recognised as the UK’s fastest-growing and most popular leisure brand.   I am pleased that our destinations continue to perform consistently in 2008 in what is a challenging trading climate.  I am also delighted that our third Xscape in Braehead, Glasgow, is outperforming our expectations in visitor numbers.   I would like to personally thank all of our loyal customers for their continued support and our fantastic teams at the three destinations.“
