Woburn Safari Park May Day Fun
Published - Monday, 28 April, 2008
There is lots of fun for everyone this May Day at Woburn Safari Park. Spring is in the air especially in the African Forest where three of the Patas monkeys have new babies to show off! The Patas are the fastest monkeys in the world and share the forest with Colobus monkeys, Barbary Macaques and the beautiful and rare Bongo antelope – look out for the bongo calf as well.

In Lion Park you may spot Tambi, the lioness and her three cubs who will be out and about with the rest of the pride. Meanwhile, elsewhere in the reserves Acacia and Savannah the rare Rothschild Giraffes will be proudly showing off their calves as well.

All the animals are all out in the reserves and ready for some spring sunshine – after the icy blasts of Easter! The drive-through safari takes approximately an hour but visitors may tour the reserves as often as they like during the day with the last entry at 5 p.m.  But there is lots of fun and activity in the walk around Wild World Leisure Area so it is a full day out at the Safari Park.

Over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend there is a funfair suitable for small children in addition to all the other talks and demonstrations, indoor and outdoor playgrounds including the popular indoor Mammoth Play Ark. All the attractions are included in the entry price.

Woburn Safari Park is open daily from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. The Woburn Passport ticket is also available which can either be used on the same day of visit or within 12 months to visit Woburn Abbey, home of the Duke of Bedford and his family. Woburn is signposted from Junction 13 off the M1 and is just 15 minutes from Milton Keynes or Bedford.

Woburn Abbey, set in the 3,000 acre deer park is open daily from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. (last entry).  The tradition of Afternoon tea began here in the 1840’s and you can celebrate that tradition too by taking Afternoon tea in the Duchess’ Tea Room.
