European Wakeboarding Tour

Willen Lake in Milton Keynes will be taken over by adrenaline junkies this weekend. The world’s best cable wakeboarders will come to the city to take part in the European Cable Wakeboard Tour. The event taking place all weekend is free to get in and with live music and plenty of thrills and spills to watch it promises to be a great day out for the whole family.

If the idea of wakeboarding seems dangerous enough then the added element of cable takes this extreme sport to a whole new level. Your average wakeboarder is pulled along by a boat but in this adaptation of the water sport participants use an overhead cable ski system.

Suspended in the air by a series of towers an overhead cable rotates around the lake. Along the cable are a number of carriers from which ski ropes attach to pull a rider or skier around the lake.

Competitors will come from Europe, Africa and the Middle East to entertain the crowds on the UK leg of the tour and their successes will contribute points to their overall world rankings and their World Championship status.

The event has five categories which include open women, open men, junior ladies, junior men and masters men. WakeMK has ensured the whole family will enjoy the action-packed weekend by providing live music and a children’s entertainment area. Entry to the event is free.
