thecentre:mk has teamed up with local software specialist, Interdirect, to roll out a £3million technology project across the centre that will bring shoppers information on the latest store news and offers, events within the centre, and retailer job vacancies all updated in real-time, as well as acting as a navigation tool and store finder.
Robert Goodman, Centre Director, for thecentre:mk said: “This is fantastic news for thecentre:mk. The new 'infopod' system is one of the most advanced in the UK, allowing shoppers to get up to the minute information on promotions events and stores, incorporating the latest in digital advertising, and improving wayfinding across the centre.
The installation of this state of the art technology system is another phase in our £20million investment in enhancing the centre and will be key to ensuring that we continue to compete as one of the top ten shopping centres in the UK.”
Nicholas Mann of Interdirect added: “After a nationwide search it’s great that the centre chose to work with local contractors on a project of this scale and we are really proud of the system that is being installed. 14 touch screens are currently being installed across the centre and they will be fully operational by the end of the month. Knowing both thecentre:mk and the industry well, we have made sure that the system is perfect for a shopping centre of its size, the infopods and the forth coming integrated website and intranet have been designed so that we can localise messages to each screen so that shoppers will receive information about offers and events in their immediate vicinity.”
