The Christmas gift wrapping service in Midsummer Place has raised £7000 for charity Advantage Africa in just three weeks. Throughout December, shoppers to the centre could donate money to have their Christmas presents wrapped by volunteers in the shopping centre, to raise vital funds for people affected by poverty, disability and AIDS in Africa.

Over 70 volunteers, including mums, students, retired, unemployed and employed gave their time to the cause which raised enough to support 30 people living with AIDS with nutrition, medicines and emotional support.

Centre Manager, Martin Hindson said: “Both Midsummer Place and Advantage Africa are thrilled so much money has been raised. The service is a great asset to Midsummer Place over the busy Christmas period and we would like to thank our customers for donating so generously, as well as to the volunteers”. www.midsummerplace.co.uk
