The Big Fish just keeps on growing

Linford Lakes in Milton Keynes is set to be the venue for one of the largest and most exciting events in the UK fishing calendar. Annual charity carp fishing extravaganza “The Big Fish” will be held at the stunning Great Linford Lakes for the next 5 years with over 3000 visitors already expected at this year’s star studded affair.

Beginning on Saturday 3 September in aid of The Sick Children’s Trust, celebrities such as EastEnders star and avid carp fisherman Scott Maslen (Jack Branning) will be appearing next to a  legendary anglers including World Champions Terry Edmonds and Hywel Morgan,  ten year old angling sensation Phoebe Stuart, top female carp angler Samantha Collins-Ratcliffe and a host of other angling stars ready to share their skills and secrets.

There is also a forty-eight hour carp angling tournament starting on Thursday 1 September that will see more than 50 tournament anglers battling it out on two tough specimen lakes culminating in a FREE public event for all the family on Saturday. Packed with entertainment including dazzling Fly-casting displays from World Fly-casting champion Hywel Morgan.

There will also be the opportunity for kids to get involved with our free fishing day camps along the 2 on-site canals and also get the chance to win some prizes for their efforts. Other family attractions include an amazing aerial falconry display by ‘Ye olde redtail falconry’, ‘Bronson’, the mechanical bucking bronco, prize winning laser clay and archery, inflatables, and an all-day bar and hog roast.

In the evening will be an “Evening of Legends” event where ticket holders can enjoy mingling in a relaxed and informal atmosphere with some of the UK’s top anglers.   This event is limited to one hundred tickets priced at £25 and advance booking is strongly recommended.  Email Dom at admin@thebigfish.tv to reserve your ticket. 

In addition, the fishing world’s top retailers will be on hand to offer world class angling advice, product demonstrations and bait rolling clinics from their consultants, together with offering the best deals on the latest must have angling gear.

While entry is free donations are welcome towards The Big Fish’s main aim, raising money for The Sick Children’s Trust (www.sickchildrenstrust.org) which pays to create “home from home” facilities where families can stay with seriously ill children.  The Big Fish founder Dom Morgan lost his twelve year old daughter Jodi in 2010 and this year, money raised from the event will go to help pay for the Acorn House family stay facility at Addenbrooks Hospital in Cambridge, together with donating several laptops and internet dongles to the hospitals children’s wards.

Dom Morgan said: “Great Linford Lakes are, in my opinion, the most stunning fishery in the country so the ideal location for the anglers competing and for the public to enjoy the event on 3rd September.
