Green is definitely the colour in terms of events, with six great Wildlife Wonders, including ‘Herons and Palaces’ at the Hanson Environmental Centre, Great Linford and ‘Bee Hives and Honey’ at Rectory Cottages, Bletchley. Or settle for guided walks around our parks at Caldecotte Lake, Eaglestone and New Bradwell.
Feeling a bit more active? Then with our Thrills and Spills Events you can choose from fast-paced Orienteering to more gentle guided cycle rides through our parks and green spaces, including two of the four revamped Heritage Cycle Trail routes out in September to bike your ‘Redway’ around Milton Keynes! Indeed as Heritage Open Days also coincides with Bike Week, cycling is big business with more trails and fun activity over the entire weekend to encourage you to get fit, get active and go green.
Want to see how others have done it? At Milton Keynes Hospital, MK Arts for Health will be exhibiting work from people who have used art as medium for improving health and their understanding of Milton Keynes’ heritage.
To cap it all off, leave the car at home or one of the designated park and ride venues and ride the FREE Double Decker buses being put on the two weekend days Saturday 13th or Sunday 14th courtesy of MK Metro and the Milton Keynes Heritage Association and hear about the heritage and future of Milton Keynes by experienced guides. These buses will connect all the major event venues allowing you to hop on and off during the day.
You can download a 2008 Heritage Open Days brochure by clicking here, or you can pick one up at the new Discover Milton Keynes Shop, any local library or at the heritage venues. Alternatively you can visit the Milton Keynes HODs website at www.mkheritageopendays.com
