Milton Keynes Shopaholics Shape Up
Published - Tuesday, 30 March, 2010
Milton Keynes women can add saving lives to their shopping list when they head down to the Midsummer Place Shopping Centre this weekend (April 1st – 3rd).

Shopaholics who are used to clocking up the kilometres as they shuffle carrier bags from store to store will be confronted by a striking display urging them to enter a unique 5k or 10k event to help beat cancer.

Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life will be taking a road show to the retail Mecca with a crucial message for all mums, daughters, sisters and friends: ‘Come and join a seriously fun day out!’

It’s a timely reminder that the UK’s largest women-only fundraising event series is now open for entries and is achievable by all women, regardless of age, shape or size.

Cancer Research UK staff and volunteers will be creating a buzz at Midsummer Place – outside Zara -  from 10.00am to 6pm on April 1st, 2nd, and 3rd - suggesting that if women are capable of whizzing round the shops, they are capable of completing Race for Life at their own pace.

The Race for Life road show will give shoppers the chance to sign-up for the Milton Keynes event on the spot. Cancer Research UK staff will also be on hand to answer questions about fundraising and the impressive strides scientists are making to treat, diagnose and prevent cancer.

Race for Life events are taking place across the region from May to July including Milton Keynes, Bedford and Northamptonshire.
