Andy first joined the hotel as a temp in September 2006 before taking up a full time role in January 2007. Nominated by David Jones, General Manager, Andy was shortlisted to four finalists and received the award at a special ‘Oscars’ ceremony held on Friday 14th March at the Holiday Inn Coventry.
Paul Johnson, Kew Green Founding Director, comments, “We have many excellent chefs working within our hotels and the judges found it very difficult to select the overall winner of this award. All of the shortlisted nominees have shown excellent progress in their roles and have significantly raised the standards of the food offering at their hotels.”
David Jones General Manager, comments “Andy refuses to buy in ready prepared vegetables and wherever possible all desserts are homemade. He is actively involved in all business development meetings at the hotel and supports Kew Green in menu development for the group. His team has the utmost respect for him and the hotel has received many letters from wedding couples and event organisers specifically naming him for the efforts he has made in contributing to the complete success of their function at the hotel.”
Andy has introduced speciality menus in the bar and restaurant, created a Celebrations and Events pack with selected menus for private dining and has re-launched the hotel’s Sunday carvery lunch. The hotel caters for conferences, weddings, private dining and celebrations.
Other nominees from the hotel short-listed for awards and highly acclaimed were the house keeping team lead by Joanne Healy, Mark Voice, Revenue Manager, Lisa Kerr, Accounts Department (for work behind the scenes), and Christina Horrigan, Sales Manager.
