Gulliver’s was opened in 1978 by Ray Phillips, who decided to open a model village for his young children to enjoy in the picturesque spa town of Matlock Bath.
Matlock Bath, situated in a limestone gorge on the edge of the Peak District, boasted an early type of rollercoaster, the switchback railway, built in 1889 in the Heights of Abraham, which was opened as a pleasure garden for the public. Gulliver’s Kingdom opened up its own Switchback rollercoaster five years ago to pay homage to the town’s history and celebrate the park’s 25th birthday.
Today, Gulliver’s is proud to have remained a family-run company – it is now managed by Mr Phillips’s children, daughter Julie and son Nick, and has continued to grow across the country with its four parks – including the newest addition, Eco Park in Milton Keynes - all dedicated to offering the perfect day out for families with children aged two to 13.
Gulliver’s is an affordable day out for the family, which won’t break the bank – plus, there are plenty of indoor attractions for rainy days.
Normal opening times and admission rates will apply on Gulliver’s 30th birthday.
