Each year the announcement of the theme for thecentre:mk’s Christmas show is eagerly awaited by the local community of Milton Keynes and each year it becomes increasingly challenging to come up with a theme to top that of the previous year. However, with the Big Top Christmas show thecentre:mk management team has drawn on the “Greatest Show On Earth” to present something bigger and bolder than ever.
After a fantastic response last year, with 70,000 people riding on the train, there’s a welcome return of the Santa’s Circus Train. The show will also feature huge red swags of fabric draped from the ceiling, Santa’s grotto dressed as a big top, a 30 foot tall Christmas tree, a wishing pool with a 35 foot tall animatronic dancing elephant as the centre piece, an animatronic performing ringmaster, a double decker carousel, 40 foot high helter skelter and dozens of animated circus figures hanging from trapeze, ropes, in cars, planes and custard pie throwing antics.
“The image of the Big Top is universally associated with fun and laughter, which is perfect for Christmas” commented Jackie Tracey, events manager at thecentre:mk. “Last year the Christmas show had 3.8 million visitors, 70,000 people rode on the train and 20,000 children visited Santa’s Grotto. Circuses have been entertaining the public since Roman times and The Big top Christmas show is designed to carry on this tradition matching last year’s success and provide visitors to thecentre:mk with something they’ve become accustomed to at thecentre:mk; a jaw dropping Christmas show to delight every member of the family.”
