BBC Three Counties Radio’s Breakfast Show for Milton Keynes - Morning:MK - has joined forces with thecentre:mk shopping centre to launch their Christmas Gift Appeal. Listeners of the show, and shoppers, are being asked to buy an extra gift with their Christmas shopping this year.

Morning:MK presenter Helen Leigh said; “I look forward to a happy family Christmas every year. Sometimes we need a bit of a push to remember that not everyone’s Christmas is like that.” The gifts will be donated to infants, children and young people in need across Milton Keynes. They will be distributed by the Milton Keynes Children’s Fund to local Family and Community Centres.

Presents should be suitable for a child aged between 0 and 16 years, and can include toys, books, footballs, colouring books, cosmetics, clothes, and even family hampers. They need to be brand new, and not wrapped.

Robert Goodman, Centre Director said: “thecentre:mk wholeheartedly supports the Toy Appeal and are proud to be co-ordinating the collection. We ask our customers to make it a success for Milton Keynes.  In the midst of planning for the festivities, let’s try to bring some pleasure to those children for whom Christmas may not be such a joyful time.”

Programme Manager from the Milton Keynes Children’s Fund, Danny Conway added; “People’s gifts could make a big difference to local children this Christmas - no matter how small.”

The drop-off point for the presents will be the Customer Services desk, on Silbury Arcade near BHS. The closing date of the appeal is Friday 14th December 2007.
