Over the past two years thecentre:mk has undergone a £20 million enhancement programme which has been designed to attract new retailers and give the centre a more cosmopolitan feel. New technology and the re-development of Queens Court have improved the shopper experience and reinforced the growing cafe culture of Milton Keynes. As a result, international brands such as Pandora (Danish), Thomas Sabo (Germany), Carluccios (Italian), and YO! Sushi (Japanese) now grace the malls of the region’s largest shopping destination complimenting the existing retailers.
“With its wide tree lined boulevards Milton Keynes has a real European flavour about it,” commented Melanie Beck, Head of Marketing & Communications for thecentre:mk. “The opening of Destination Dining is an exciting time for thecentre:mk and we wanted to celebrate it in some style. Therefore we’ve put together a series of events throughout the two days which are open to the public designed to celebrate everyone’s love of food.
There will even be professional master of ceremonies on hand to help get the best information out of the chefs and sample plates of food for everyone to taste.”
Given the new cosmopolitan feel, a “Food Showcase” will take place in Destination Dining at thecentre:mk. Demonstrations will take place on Thursday the 15 July from 5:00pm – 6:30pm when Waitrose will have its meat and fish specialist onsite providing advice and sampling meat, fish, wine and cheese. Moving into Friday, from 10:30 – 11:30 Marks and Spencer’s will be showcasing the English classic strawberries and cream for the general public and providing knowledge on using the best produce. Following that from 12:00 – 2:00, celebrity chef Lesley Waters will be cooking signature dishes from Giraffe, Wagamama and Pizza Express. Not to be left out, chefs from YO! Sushi, Cafe Rouge, Carluccios and Nando’s will demonstrate key dishes from their menus between 2:00 and 4:00. Then to finish the festival in style Hotel Chocolat will be running a chocolate tasting session from 5:00.
