Making sure its workers are as happy as its customers has helped a Milton Keynes hotel win a prestigious national award.

Express by Holiday Inn at Eastlake Park, which employs 29 people, measured up to the requirements of the Investors in People Standard, which provides a framework for improving performance and competitiveness through training and development.

Hotel General Manager Derek Ramsay said: “Many of our customers report back on our website that our hotel team are friendly and helpful, and I think that’s down to making sure our staff are not only well trained but happy too.

“I would advise other businesses to work with Investors in People as it’s very rewarding. It’s not rocket science, as we found out. We were already following good practice in terms of staff communication, training them and our contract workers, and I am pleased to say we have a very low staff turnover.”

Commenting on the company’s achievement, Trish Fraser,?Managing Director of Quality South East, the Investors in People Centre for Milton Keynes said: “Derek’s team at Express by Holiday Inn are living proof that ensuring a business has well motivated staff is reflected in a good level of service for customers.”
