Even Father Christmas decided to take time out of his busy schedule this year so he will be on hand to check he has the most up to date Christmas lists!
The charity being supported this year is AYME – Association of Young People with ME. They are a small national charity based in Milton Keynes and they have arranged a very special guest to switch on the Theatre District Christmas lights this year. Within Milton Keynes young people with ME is on the increase and they are keen to raise awareness of this much mis-understood illness.
The festivities will commence just after 4pm with the MK Brass Band opening the ceremony along with MK Rock Choir, who later in the proceedings will encourage a traditional Christmas carol sing along. Local, friendly mascots will be out and about ready to meet and greet and there will also be a couple of fun fair rides for the youngsters to enjoy free of charge, though a donation to charity is appreciated.
As a special Christmas treat during Sunday 27 November kids can eat free at: Slug & Lettuce, Bella Italia, Pizza Hut, and Red Hot World Buffet, as long as an adult buys a full price main course (check terms and conditions for each venue). There will also be refreshments, including mulled wine, available free during the event, though again a donation to AYME is appreciated.
The Christmas Family Fun event on will take place in the central area of the Theatre District – at the side of Bella Italia. MK Brass will start around 4pm with other entertainment such as MK Parkour Display Team and Daniel Cutter commencing around 4.30pm. The official switching on of the lights will be around 5.45pm.
