New Summer Season at MK Theatre

Milton Keynes Theatre is looking forward to an exciting new summer season with a fantastic line-up of shows to suit all tastes and ages and today announces the news that for the first time in their history they will play host to a World Premiere of a glorious new show – Top Hat

Top Hat will see Fred and Ginger’s greatest Hollywood dance musical live on stage for the very first time. With Tom Chambers and Summer Strallen and a celebrated score of classics including Cheek to Cheek, Let’s Face the Music and Dance and Top Hat, White Tie and Tail,s this sensational musical comedy will sweep you off your feet.  There’s even a special VIP package available for those who want to experience a true Hollywood style red carpet premiere!

More musical magic can be caught with another trio of classics.  For non-stop hits join in the celebration of the undisputed king of pop in Thriller Live (09 – 14 May) direct from the West End.  A spectacular concert created to celebrate the career of the world’s greatest entertainer – Michael Jackson.  Throw your mittens around your kittens and hand jive the night away with the show that will make you want to shout ‘A- wop-bop-a-loo-bop, A-wop-bam-boom’ as the No 1 greatest musical Grease (24 May – 04 Jun) warms up those Summer Nights. Making a hotly-anticipated return to MK and the UK stage is front man of Wet Wet Wet, Marti Pellow in a major new production of the hit Broadway musical, Jekyll And Hyde (24 Jun – 02 Jul). Based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic gothic novella it’s glamorous, sexy and deliciously wicked!

The annual visit from Northern Ballet brings a legend to life in new production composed by Claude Michel Schonberg (Les Miserable, Miss Saigon) with a unique retelling of the story of the ultimate Modern woman – Cleopatra (03 – 07 May). Dance aficionados can also look forward to some sizzling Latin passion from Strictly Come Dancing’s Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace in their live sensual show Midnight Tango (14 – 18 Jun). bringing one of the most elegant forms of dance to life live on stage.

Queen of Crime Agatha Christie’s Verdict  (06 – 11 Jun) a gripping and powerful drama from the hugely successful Agatha Christie Theatre Company , features a superb cast including Robert Duncan (Drop the Dead Donkey) and Peter Byrne (Dixon of Dock Green) to take you down a path of mystery and intrigue. Whilst Michael Frayn’s Alarms and Excursions (11 – 16 Jul) with Robert Daws, Neil Pearson, Gwyneth Strong and Serena Evans will have you rolling in the aisles, as 8 plays, 24 characters, one dinner party and an unusual flight announcement tell farcical tales of gizmo,  gadgets and humans on the blink!

Kids favourite Shaun the sheep brings great family entertainment to MK in music and dance extravaganza Shaun’s Big Show (07 – 10 Jul) adapted for the stage by the ‘National Childrens Dramatist’ David Wood.  Roary the Racing Car (02 Sep) zooms into town for one night only to wrap up the family fun! 

A bumper pack of one night shows include music from The British Pink Floyd Show (24 Apr)– a must for Floydians everywhere! Queen Legend Brian May and Kerry Ellis (18 May)with their brand new Anthems Tour. The Rat Pack – Vegas Spectacular (04 Jul) with all your favourite swinging tunes. Former G4 front Man Jonathan Ansell & Friends (05 Jul) performing some of pop and operas best-loved songs. A spectacular night of music from Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra (06 Jul) The Glenn Miller Orchestra (31 Aug) bringing the 40’s back to MK. Britain’s favourite Diva, Jane Macdonald (01 Sep) Back for Good  (03 Sep) recreating the magic of Take That live. The 25th Anniversary tour of That’ll be the Day (04 Sep) with feel good comedy and hits from the 50’s 60’s and 70’s.  Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings (23 Sep) returns to his musical roots of classic rhythm and blues and An Evening With Suggs (22 May) promises part music, part personal vision part music hall extravaganza.

Unmissable fun delivered in typical shambolic charm from Dylan Moran (03 Jun) and hilarious insights from Crowd Pleaser  Ed Byrne (19 Sep).
